Where To Get Medical Insurance and Health Care
This article applies to you if you do not have access to a group health plan from an employer, and are not sure where to purchase health insurance on the individual or private market, if you cannot afford private insurance, or if you have been declined for individual health insurance.
- Low Income: If you have a low income, you may be able to find government help.
Medicaid, CHIPS (kids and pregnant women), and this federally funded health center finder. may help.
- Unemployment Health Insurance: If you have lost your health insurance because you are unemployed, look at unemployment health insurance and COBRA health alternatives.
- Remember that available health insurance will depend upon your zip code, age, health, budget, and many other factors.
- Individual Health Insurance: If you are self-employed, a contract worker, or without group health insurance benefits at work, compare individual and family health insurance here.
- Declined For Health Insurance: If you have been declined, because of a pre-existing health condition, your state has a high risk health pool. There is also a new federal high risk health plan. Here is a list of the high risk health plans by state, and also the new federal plan.
